Retired Cop Sues MTA For Fatal Train Crash For $10 Million

Julia Marsh from the New York Post reports this week that attorney Robert Vilensky from the law firm of Ronemus and Vilensky has filed a $10 million lawsuit on behalf of his client, Eddie Russell, one of the survivors in the Metro North train crash which killed four and injured more than 63.

Marsh reports that attorney Vilensky said the dollar amount is so high because of the recent Federal Railroad Administration report that found, “Metro-North has emphasized on-time performance to the detriment of safe operations.”  She also quotes Vilensky as saying that the transportation authority still has not set up a process to settle the claims, which means Metro-North and the MTA will be “costing taxpayers additional expenses” for legal fees.
